Ancient Battles CoverHi fellow WAB gamers,

You will find below the introduction to the new Warhammer Ancient Battles volume.

Please note if you already have a copy of WAB, by making use of the errata on this web site, you do not need to replace your existing copy, although, with the extra scenario, photographs, information and diagrams all in one place, you may find it convenient to do so.

Welcome to Warhammer Ancient Battles.

Warhammer Ancient Battles was originally published in 1998, and since then there has been an extensive and continuing series of supplements published to complement the original release (see the back inside cover, or the Books Page of this website, for full details).

As game play and experience proved over time, it became necessary to issue a series of clarifications to amend the existing rules and create some new ones. These have been made available in an online errata and are also printed in some of the more recent supplements.

However for the many new players who come to Warhammer Ancient Battles each year and the existing longstanding players, we recognized that they needed much more than just the original rulebook, and so, we have compiled all the relevant information into one handy volume.

This new volume contains the original rulebook; with no amendments within the original text, the page order and numbering is still the same as the original. We chose to do this for clarity when owners of this new volume are playing against gamers with the original rulebook and both need to refer to a particular page. This new volume also contains an additional section with updated clarifications to the rulebook, and any subsequent additional rules that are relevant.

We have also included an additional game scenario called Border Skirmish and some optional rules, in order to make your games even more varied and interesting!

Enjoy your gaming!
